Debugging & errors

Custom error

Revert with typed data and inspect the failed run.

Solidity 0.8.36REPL modeExpected error

Why use this example

Use this pattern to reproduce a failure or follow an execution from Solidity source into calls and EVM opcodes. The entry isolates custom error so its input, result, and state changes stay easy to compare.

Solidity to run

error NotOwner(address caller)
revert NotOwner(msg.sender)

What to expect

The run reverts with the typed NotOwner error and encodes the current caller in its error data.

Continue the investigation

Change a value, add another expression, or open Inspect after the run. Accepted entries remain available to the next entry, and the clean replay keeps the complete result reproducible.
